Helix Electric Donates $5,000 to Support Iowa Veterans

Community giving took center stage this holiday season when Helix Electric Inc. doubled down on an employee-led act of generosity. After a winning employee donated their entire holiday raffle prize to the Freedom Foundation, Helix matched the gift, resulting in a $5,000 contribution to support veterans in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

The donation grew out of a 50/50 raffle organized by Helix’s Iowa team during its holiday party, with proceeds benefiting the Freedom Foundation, a local organization that helps veterans transition to civilian life and access critical resources.

When Craig Neeley, a Helix leader, won the raffle, he chose to give the full prize back to the organization. His decision prompted Helix to match the entire amount raised, turning a single moment of generosity into a larger community impact.

“When our team member won and gave it all back to help local veterans, it showed the character of our people and how we build strong communities together,” says Dave Uenaka, Senior Project Manager at Helix Electric, which presented the check in January.

Randy Rhodes, General Superintendent, says, “When our people lead with generosity like this, matching their gift becomes an easy choice.”

The contribution is part of Helix Electric’s broader “40 Years with 40 Philanthropy Events” initiative, an employee-led effort through Helix Helping Hands that celebrates the company’s 40th anniversary by supporting communities across the markets it serves.
