Nightingale™ (www.nightingalelighting.com), an innovative, patient-centric lighting manufacturer for healthcare applications, is pleased to announce its Embrace™, Observe™, and Respond™ luminaires, have each received a 2025 Product Innovation Award (PIA) from Architectural Products magazine. The PIA program was created to celebrate the ground-breaking products, systems, and materials that help architects achieve new levels of creativity or performance in their design. Each entry is reviewed by an esteemed panel of practicing architects; manufacturers of products and systems are awarded based on attributes, qualities, functionality, or performance beyond industry standards.
Embrace pushes light outside of direct patient view, reducing glare, and contributing to a calmer setting for the patient. The multifunction patient bed luminaire offers ambient, exam, and night observation modes, with an optional dedicated reading light. Applications include patient rooms, NICU, senior living, long-term care, and recovery rooms. The Observe cloud uses an innovative optical treatment to create a realistic sky effect that does not impede the exam and ambient modes. The luminaire uses a unique combination of optics and color to create a fixture that is switchable between a biophilic sky mode, soothing ambient mode, and exam mode. The latter modes meet the strict IES recommended light level requirements (RP-29). Patients control their own space either through an intuitive wall switch, or with a pillow speaker control.
Respond headwall luminaires are designed to light a patient room without the need for supplemental lighting. Up light , downlight and glow face sources work in combination to address a range of user needs. Respond™ meets all IES RP-29 recommended light levels for the patient room in ambient, exam, night observation and reading modes with indirect and direct outputs. Available in three sizes, it is offered with a variety of decorative face options to blend into the built environment. The surface mount solution simplifies installation and provides greater design freedom.
Winners of the 15th annual program will be profiled in the November/December issue of Architectural Products.
