In honor of Veterans Day, GF is standing behind a powerful mission: ensuring that every Minnesota veteran has a place to call home. In partnership with the Minnesota Assistance Council for Veterans (MACV), Housing First Minnesota Foundation and Lennar®, GF is supporting Veteran Village—a first-of-its-kind housing community dedicated to ending veteran homelessness across the state.
The 22-unit development will provide housing for up to 36 veterans and their families who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. More than 200 partners, trade professionals, and donors have contributed their time, skills, and resources to make the project possible. GF supplied Uponor ServicePEX™ pipe for water service lines and Uponor AquaPEX® pipe for plumbing systems within each home—critical infrastructure that helps make the community livable, safe, and sustainable.
“This project is a testament to what’s possible when the building industry comes together for a greater cause,” says Sofia Humphries, Senior Director, Community Impact at Housing First Minnesota Foundation. “We simply could not construct Veteran Village without the support of companies like GF and so many others who’ve stepped up.”
Beyond building homes, Veteran Village represents a path forward for those transitioning from military to civilian life—a return to stability, safety, and community. “No one who has worn the uniform should be left without a roof over their head,” says Nate McIntosh, retired U.S. Marine Corps Master Gunnery Sergeant and GF Director of Logistics and Warehousing.
Veteran Village is set for completion in December 2025, with MACV providing ongoing support to help residents achieve long-term stability and success.
