MVE + Partners Breaks Ground on Liberty Corner in Utah

Leading architecture firm, MVE + Partners, broke ground on the Liberty Corner affordable housing development in Salt Lake City. Developed by Cowboy Partners, the timeless development will bring 200 units – making it one of the largest in the area.

The 387,857-square-foot ground-up residential development is housed under one building, though it appears almost as two distinct structures to provide a humanistic scale and seamless integration into the Ballpark District – a neighborhood blending modern urban infill development with older + smaller structures. Notable features include:

• The integration of brick and a neutral/earth-toned color palette to resonate with Salt Lake’s landscape, urban heritage and high-quality materials.

• The incorporation of corrugated metal panels to add a modern, industrial layer to contrast with the traditional use of brick.

• Different purposes throughout the base-, middle-, top structure

  • The base showcases a unique layer of community activiation including a two-story daycare facility, co-working space, leasing office, fitness center, training rooms, club lounge and multi-purpose indoor recreation area and connection to outdoor recreation zones and courtyards.

  • The middle layer houses most of the brick and corrugated metal to highlight the residential units. The development contains different sized apartments designed to hold intergenerational families.

  • The top offers a light closure to the building offering distinct roof lines.
