Grayson has announced an investment of £15,000 to help support Site Ready Solutions’ Bricklaying Pre-Apprenticeship Programme.
The initial investment will help to scale the training programme, enabling more young people to access bricklaying training.
Site Ready Solutions brings together employers, training centres, trade bodies and local stakeholders to remove barriers to entry, streamline the onboarding process for recruits, and ensure long-term workforce development.
The 14-week pre-apprenticeship programme is delivered in partnership with accredited training centres and industry employers.
The programme includes an initial two-week immersive bootcamp, followed by a 12-week structured employer placement.
Throughout the programme, Site Ready Solutions offers a framework for training, mentoring and progression that fits the unique needs of small, medium and micro-sized businesses.
The company also provides on-site implementation support, helping employers develop structured team-based models for mentoring and upskilling new entrants.
This aims to help address long-standing barriers that can prevent smaller businesses from taking on apprentices, by ensuring learners are better prepared and supported from the outset.
Building a resilient workforce
Commenting on the new funding, Garry Staines, co-founder of Site Ready Solutions, said: “This partnership is about more than just training – it’s about building a workforce that’s ready, resilient and reflective of the future of construction.
“Grayson’s support allows us to reach more learners and employers, and proves that forward-thinking businesses can play a leading role in shaping the industry’s future.”
As an employee-owned trust, Grayson said it is committed to reinvesting a substantial proportion of its profits in the construction trades and communities it serves.
“We know that the future of masonry depends on the people coming through today,” said Tony Higson, Grayson’s managing director.
“Investing in Site Ready Solutions means investing in real opportunities for young people, and that’s how we keep this vital trade alive.
“Grayson is extremely proud to play a part in this initiative to ensure that the craft not only survives but thrives for generations to come.”
