Granite Falls, MN — Miller Architects & Builders broke ground on the Upper Sioux Community Elder Housing & Community Center earlier this spring. With the growing elder population, the Upper Sioux Community addressed the lack of elder housing on the reservation and also reviewed their current community center and found the space unable to meet the community’s needs.
“Creating a space for Upper Sioux Community that they will enjoy for years is a privilege,” said Joe Seifert, President of Miller Architects & Builders. “We are excited to use our expertise to create a space to benefit the elders and community on the reservation.”
The completed building will be 27,800 square feet and include 16 two-bedroom housing units exclusively for the community’s elders. It will also be attached to the community center. The community center will have a lobby area, a multi-purpose area for the community, and a dining area. The building is expected to be completed in summer 2026.
