Deceuninck North America welcomed students from local high schools to its Monroe production facility as part of Manufacturing Day and Manufacturing Month—a nationwide effort to inspire the next generation of manufacturing professionals. The October event gave students hands-on learning experiences and direct exposure to the wide range of career paths within the manufacturing sector.
Students in grades 9–12 toured multiple departments, engaged with Deceuninck team members and leaders, and learned how the company engineers and produces PVC window and door profiles used across the building industry.
Throughout the visit, students moved through the testing and materials labs, tooling, CNC operations, the extrusion floor and lamination areas. Deceuninck team members shared their career journeys, day-to-day responsibilities and the skills needed to succeed in a modern manufacturing environment.
“We are committed to helping build a strong and prepared workforce,” says Monica Cummins, VP of Human Resources at Deceuninck North America. “Creating pathways for students to learn about manufacturing helps support our local community and ensures continued growth in this essential industry.”
Students also participated in demonstrations and hands-on activities that showed how high-performance building products are designed and produced — and the level of technical skill, collaboration and problem-solving required on the job.
“Workforce development starts long before graduation. Giving students real access to local employers strengthens our schools, our businesses and our community,” says Rick Pearce, President/CEO of The Chamber of Commerce serving Middletown, Monroe and Trenton (Ohio). “Deceuninck has been a strong partner in helping build that pipeline for the next generation of talent.”
Deceuninck North America will continue working with area schools to support career exploration, workforce readiness and STEM education — reinforcing its commitment to developing the region’s future manufacturing workforce.
