Emiliana Design Studio has unveiled its latest creations for the firm Vergés at the Hábitat Valencia 2025 fair: the Soca and Nela stool collections, along with an update of its inclusive furniture line Care, now available with the new Downtown and Uptown upholsteries from the Danish textile brand Gabriel.
These textile proposals, which mark the beginning of a new collaboration with Gabriel, reinterpret Scottish tartan with a contemporary and expressive approach. The collection, designed for environments such as care homes, hospitals, civic centers, libraries, and hotels, prioritizes ergonomics, accessibility, safety, and comfort—without sacrificing a refined aesthetic language.
“If we want to create truly healing and healthy spaces, they need to be kind, to feel like home. That is why we want the new Care collection upholsteries to convey warmth, comfort, and sustainability: removable, comfortable, and washable fabrics that feel much more pleasant. The furniture is also designed without sharp edges and can incorporate handles and wheels, to care for both users and caregivers,” explains Ana Mir, co-founder of Emiliana Design.
In her view, each chair and armchair responds to different ways of sitting and experiencing the space. “All the designs share one goal: to be welcoming, self-sufficient, and accessible,” she emphasized.

Soca, meanwhile, is a collection of stools and benches conceived from a single elegantly curved wooden sheet. Its simple and elemental design adapts to informal dining spaces, collaborative and multipurpose settings such as offices, universities, or libraries. Thanks to its conical base, the stools can be stacked, offering practicality and space optimization.
The Nela stool, for its part, complements the eponymous chair collection, characterized by formal and structural simplicity. Made of ash wood, it features an ergonomic backrest that gently adapts to the spine. Its stackability makes it a functional yet warm choice for flexible spaces.
With Soca and Nela, Emiliana Design sought to work with wood in a formally honest way, creating friendly, resistant, and versatile pieces that naturally interact with very different environments.
“Care is an inclusive furniture program that goes beyond functionality: it seeks to accompany people in their moments of rest with pieces that convey calm, well-being, and quality of life,” says Emili Padrós, co-founder of Emiliana Design.
In addition to the new pieces, Emiliana Design reaffirms its role as creative directors of Vergés and signs the design of the stand at Hábitat 2025. The space has been conceived with natural and neutral tones that frame the collections and highlight the proportional lines, gentle character, and timelessness of the designs.
About Emiliana Design
Emiliana Design Studio was founded in the late 1990s by Ana Mir (1969, Valencia) and Emili Padrós (1969, Barcelona). Since its creation, the studio has embraced a cross-disciplinary approach to design, building a solid, diverse, and rich professional trajectory. In recent years, their focus on design for new uses and communities—such as older or dependent people—has led them to research new proposals that, through design, can inclusively deliver wellbeing, comfort, ergonomics, design quality, and beauty across generations.
