JTM Construction Delivers Expanded Production Campus for Netflix Albuquerque

JTM Construction Group Inc. (JTM CGI), an affiliate of JT Magen, has completed a major expansion of the Netflix Studios Albuquerque campus, delivering a next-generation production facility designed to elevate creative output and support Netflix’s long-term sustainability goals.

Serving as construction manager, JTM CGI oversaw the project from demolition and grading through to core and shell construction, fit-out, and final commissioning. The firm collaborated with project partners Bohannan Huston (civil engineer), Dekker (architect), Chavez-Grieves (structural engineer) and Bridgers and Paxton (MEP engineers) to bring the expanded campus to life.

The expansion added approximately 430,000 square feet of interior space across multiple buildings. Highlights include two 18,000-square-foot and two 20,000-square-foot soundstages, each designed with movable dividing partitions for flexible use. The campus also features two 30,000-square-foot production support buildings with wardrobe spaces, dressing suites, hair and makeup rooms, edit suites, laundry facilities, and production offices.

Three 60,000-square-foot mill buildings provide areas for set construction and storage, while a 120,000-square-foot production office building houses facility management, security offices, a screening room, café, and shipping and receiving functions. Two dedicated exterior backlot areas expand creative possibilities for large-scale filming.

“JTM CGI was proud to work with Netflix and the project team to carry out this exciting expansion of its Albuquerque studio,” says Michael Connaughton, Project Manager at JT Magen. “The project raises the bar for production space, delivering a one-of-a-kind campus that also supports Netflix’s goal of sustainability and boosting of the local economy and job opportunities. Netflix Studios Albuquerque’s proximity to Los Angeles is a logistical win for U.S. production teams; the campus is truly outfitted with every resource possible to support the development of TV shows and movies.”

In addition to the building program, the project outfitted the 108-acre site with utilities, perimeter security, paving, landscaping, site lighting, and EV chargers. Infrastructure for a 16-acre solar field with battery storage, geothermal HVAC, and all-electric systems was also installed to help Netflix reduce its carbon footprint and long-term operating costs.

JT Magen continues its work with Netflix as construction manager for the $1 billion Netflix Studios Fort Monmouth project in New Jersey. Work began with abatement and demolition in May 2025, with full construction set to start in December. The redevelopment of the former 292-acre U.S. Army installation will transform the site into a premier East Coast production hub with nearly 1 million square feet of facilities, including 12 soundstages and community-focused amenities.
