Ayers Saint Gross Unveils Graphics for Coppin State University

Award-winning interdisciplinary design firm Ayers Saint Gross has unveiled a campaign of vibrant environmental graphics and branded signage implemented into 55 key spaces across Baltimore’s Coppin State University. After completing Coppin State University’s Facilities Master Plan in 2022, Ayers Saint Gross worked closely with the university to identify prominent circulation routes, building entrances, and communal spaces in need of visual enhancement. The resulting suite of high-impact graphics improves wayfinding, strengthens institutional identity, and enriches the daily experience for students, faculty, staff, and visitors.

Invigorating the university’s Physical Education Complex’s primary entrance, students are greeted with a wall-sized Coppin State sign in the university’s signature blue. To the right of the entrance, a double-height statement wall features three-dimensional lyrics of the university’s alma mater. Throughout the building, colorful wall details include inspirational quotes, images, and affirmations.

At the primary campus intersection, bold new letters are staggered to greet visitors, providing a welcoming first impression. Additional details include bright, university-inspired graphic elements in the administration building, classroom building, and the J. Miller Tawes Center.
