Building Futures: Instarmac Joins Forces with South & City College

Exciting new partnership opens doors for young students to build careers in the tiling industry.

Instarmac, the Tamworth-based manufacturer behind the UltraTile and UltraCrete brands, has joined up with South & City College Birmingham in a partnership intended to help improve young people’s access to vocational careers in the tiling industry.

As part of the new partnership, apprentices on a two-year course at the college will be able to access two free training days at Instarmac HQ, delivered by industry professionals and combining hands-on training with classroom-based education.

The day courses also feature guest speeches from experienced local tilers who have received awards or accreditations for their work, passing on vital information and tips and tricks related to a career in the tiling industry.

The apprentices will also have the opportunity to join the exclusive UltraTiler scheme, gaining exclusive rewards, technical knowledge and a valuable industry accreditation of their own to support long-term career growth.

Lynne Flavell, UltraTile Campaign Manager at Instarmac, comments: “There’s a real lack of opportunities for tiling apprenticeships around the UK, which is preventing young people from pursuing careers in the trade. We’re proud to be doing our part by giving young people access to vocational expertise, career guidance and long-term support alongside fantastic teaching delivered by the team at South & City College.

“World Youth Skills Day takes place this July, and it’s a perfect opportunity to highlight the pathways into trade careers for young people. Giving them the resources to explore a hands-on career will help support the ongoing skills shortage in our industry.”

Later this month, on Wednesday 23rd July, the Instarmac Training Academy will be hosting a free online webinar partnering with South & City College and led by the College’s Business Consultants Carl Goulden and Tracy Kerr. The seminar will be aimed at existing tiling businesses and will discuss the advantages of bringing an apprentice on-board.
