F.H. Paschen Begins Construction on City of Atlanta’s New Fire Station #30

Atlanta, GA – F.H. Paschen is proud to partner with the City of Atlanta on the redevelopment of Fire Station #30, a critical infrastructure project designed to restore and enhance emergency services for the surrounding South Atlanta community.

On September 20, 2024, city leaders, including Mayor Andre Dickens and Atlanta Fire Chief Roderick Smith, gathered with community members to officially break ground on the new fire station. Built on the site of the original station—which had long served as a central gathering point—the new facility marks a major milestone in the City’s broader effort to modernize its emergency services infrastructure.

Councilman Antonio Lewis, who grew up nearby and now represents the district, underscored the importance of the station to the community: “It’s more than a fire station to us. I know it lights up the community.”

A Modern Facility with Community Impact
F.H. Paschen is leading the demolition of the original 7,000-square-foot structure and the construction of a state-of-the-art, two-story fire station designed to meet the current and future needs of Atlanta Fire Rescue Department.

The new 16,000-square-foot facility will include:

  • A three-truck apparatus bay with a heavy-duty concrete driveway

  • Grading and site utilities across the 1.7-acre lot, including two detention ponds, a pervious paving parking lot, and modern site drainage

  • An oil separator, diesel fuel tank, and backup generator to support essential operations

Inside, the new firehouse will feature:

  • A 12,000-square-foot first floor with offices, kitchen and pantry, lounge, gym, training and storage rooms

  • A 4,000-square-foot second floor housing 10 sleeping quarters, 5 full restrooms with showers, and two firefighter slides for quick emergency response

  • A gear storage room, heavy-duty laundry, two-stop elevator, and two steel staircases to support functionality and safety

Lighting Up the Community
For years, Fire Station #30 stood as a beacon for the neighborhood. The closure of the previous facility left a void in both public safety and community spirit. With the new station, city leaders and residents alike hope to reinvigorate the area and restore the firehouse as a source of pride and protection.

“This is one of four fire stations in the city’s infrastructure that are being replaced,” said Chief Smith. “It’s a priority and a promise being delivered.”

F.H. Paschen is honored to bring this vital project to life and looks forward to delivering a facility that supports Atlanta’s first responders and strengthens the community they serve.
